The 7-inch screen is a nice size, but other than that it fails to present the user with a pleasant experience as far as resolution and viewing angles go.

Reviews Word on the street for the ViewSonic ViewPad 7

If productivity is your thing, you'll be happy to know that the ViewPad's calendar and e-mail apps readily took to our Gmail and Exchange accounts.

Battery life from the non-removable 3,240mAh unit is decent.

Camera and Multimedia: With a basic front facing camera and a 3MP rear camera with autofocus (though no flash), the ViewSonic ViewPad 7 isn't out to blow any minds and that's good, because it doesn't.

The battery life is fine and the build quality is fairly good, too.

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

Slightly less obvious, the Dell Streak offers a 5" screen which has greater pixel density and better viewing angles.
by PhoneArena (Dec, 2010)
Despite the inferior materials, though, it feels pretty solid, and that case should keep scratches to a minimum.
by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)
While brightness levels are OK, viewing angles are terrible, reminiscent of some budget non touchscreen handsets.
by PhoneArena (Dec, 2010)

With 5 homescreens, there is place for all your favourite apps and widgets, with them being displayed at a good size.
by PhoneArena (Dec, 2010)
Nevertheless, the phone, organizer tools and calendar all work as expected and the calendar actually benefits from the larger size of the display.
by PhoneArena (Dec, 2010)
For example, at the time of this review, the ViewPad 7 does not support Adobe Flash (though support is said to be coming).

You get the product out of the box and connect it to your computer expecting to transfer over your music, photos, and videos, but instead you're stuck making a run for a memory card.
by c|net (Dec, 2010)
There's 512MB of memory, and the paltry 512MB of integrated flash storage can be augmented with MicroSD cards of up to 32GB.
by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)
You're also going to need to spend some money on a microSD card for the ViewPad 7, because the limited amount of integrated memory is reserved just for the system.
by c|net (Dec, 2010)

Performance: Battery life is pretty good with 6-8 hours continuous usage and 25 days stand by.
by PhoneArena (Dec, 2010)
Though you won't get 10 hours like the iPad, ViewSonic's claim of around six hours seems to be spot-on, as the ViewPad 7 gave us just over six hours with average use (with the screen set to Auto - i.e. using its ambient light sensor to determine brightness - and usage alternating between web-browsing, downloading over Wi-Fi, document creation, gaming and video playback).
by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)
We tested the Viewsonic ViewPad 7's battery life at full screen with a720p video.
by c|net (Dec, 2010)

The Wi-Fi receiver is limited to 802.11 b/g, so it's not going to smoke an iPad or Tab running on an 802.11 n network-if that's how you roll.
by c|net (Dec, 2010)
For wireless connectivity we have Wi-Fi G, Bluetooth 2.1, A-GPS, quad GSM bands and tri-band UMTS (3G).
