Reviews Word on the street for the Barnes and Noble Nook HD+

7.0
This means that overall gaming performance is smooth and playable, but not outstanding in any way.

7.0
Ultimately, it’s a downer considering the high-resolution display is a nice touch for the experience.

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

Screen

Thanks to its high-resolution screen, text in books is crisp and clean whether in Google Books or the Nook's own book app.

Directly above is a space in which to organize content shortcut icons, and near the top of the screen sits your content carousel.

Apps

There's also a delay when bringing up recent apps, and the carousel has a frame-y, rough look when browsing through apps.

While in overall performance it can't compare to the Nexus 10 - especially in games - its much lower price means it may not have to.
by c|net (Nov, 2012)

Resolution

However, the Kindle Fire HD's interface takes better advantage of its lower (but still high for a 7-inch tablet) resolution and glossier screen.

It's a 9-inch tablet with a high-resolution screen, and implements magazines and catalogs better than any tablet before it.
by c|net (Nov, 2012)
Honestly, it can sometimes ruin the effect that having such a high-resolution screen can provide.

Size

Stuff like weight, corner design, bezel width, and texture are small things that play a big part in comfort and feel.
by c|net (Nov, 2012)
Still, we’ll admit that it’s extremely light weight (1.13 lbs) and comfortable to hold on its side with a single hand.
by PhoneArena (Dec, 2012)
The device is as thick (depth-wise) as the Nexus 7 and a bit thicker than the Fire HD and though it’s wider than the Nexus 7, it’s noticeably narrower than the almost-too-wide Fire HD.

Operating system

The default software keyboard, thankfully, includes a tab, but typing didn’t feel as as accurate as it does on the Nexus 7.

Also, thanks to their unique and effective implementation in the Nook OS, magazines and catalogs are done better here than on any other tablet.
