The Kindle Fire's e-mail app is clean and simple, and helped by a responsive touch-screen keyboard.

Reviews Word on the street for the Amazon Kindle Fire

Their music store is absolutely on par with iTunes in terms of selection, and their prices are cheaper in most cases.

Processor and Memory It’s not intimidating by today’s standards, but the dual-core 1.5GHz processor with 1GB of RAM in this year’s Kindle Fire HD is effective enough with its performance to tolerate.

Movies streamed solidly in HD, and music playing worked without a hiccup in the background.

It's solid in the hand, with none of the creak you find in many budget Android tablets.

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

Multimedia: If you’ve purchased songs from the Amazon MP3 Store previously, you’ll naturally see all your purchased content under the cloud section when you select the ‘ music’ header on the homescreen.
by PhoneArena (Nov, 2011)
Of course, it’s able to set up almost all popular email services with no aid on our part.
by PhoneArena (Nov, 2011)
Performance is slow around the UI and especially in apps.

The 7" display on the Kindle Fire isn't particularly remarkable in any way.
by Android Police (Sep, 2012)
I often found myself thinking the display was highly reflective, but when I sat it down to take photos, was amazed by the fact that I couldn't see as many reflections as I usually can when taking photos.
by Android Police (Sep, 2012)
But things become annoying pretty quickly when you realize that all of your content is on the home screen's single carousel.
by Android Police (Sep, 2012)

Sometimes this seems to massively drain the battery (almost full battery drain after 8 idle hours), and other times it seems to have very little impact.
by Android Police (Sep, 2012)
It can be a huge drain on the battery, obviously - yesterday I was amazed to see my battery drop from about 85% to 4% in 8 hours of idling because the screen had flipped itself on.

Operating System

You can check the available apps on the Amazon Appstore site or download it on your standard Android device.
by PhoneArena (Nov, 2011)
It is not a “with Google” device, so it doesn't feature Google apps like Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Contacts and most importantly – Android Market.
by PhoneArena (Nov, 2011)

Web browser

For example, when the last thing I had used was the browser ("Silk") to read a news article, the "Trending Now" section was filled with other top news stories.
