Reviews Word on the street for the Acer Iconia Tab A100

7.0
The display is bright, extremely sharp and it has very high contrast.

6.5
On the back near the top edge sits a 5-megapixel camera with a flash bulb.

6.0
Overall performance is still subject to the niggles that are a big part of living with the still-young Android Honeycomb.

6.0
It's more of a system for organising apps than a real UI addition – you run an app that groups other apps.

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

Screen

The screen on the Acer Iconia Tab A100 isn't fantastic, but it's not wholly terrible either.
by TechRadar (Aug, 2011)
Contrast ratio for movies wasn't good at all.
by TechRadar (Aug, 2011)
The screen also shows a lot of glare and isn't that easy to view from a side angle, so the user interface is harder to use than you might expect.
by TechRadar (Aug, 2011)

Apps

The Acer Iconia Tab A100 isn't exactly rich in first-party apps made by Acer, or in third-party apps.
by TechRadar (Aug, 2011)
One is called Planner and it presents a handy all-in-one view of recent news, your email, calendar and notes.
by TechRadar (Aug, 2011)
The button is arguably unnecessary as the OS has its own software Home button, but it also lights-up whenever you receive a new email, which is nice.
by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)

Battery

Streaming videos will chew up the battery in about four hours, and other rich media might make the Acer Iconia Tab A100 die after four and a half hours.
by TechRadar (Aug, 2011)
If you stream a lot of movies online, the battery will last for four hours or so.
by TechRadar (Aug, 2011)
The battery life could be better though, and the viewing angles will be an issue for some folks.
by MobileTechReview (Aug, 2011)

Operating System

No tablet really enhances the Android experience all that much, but Samsung offers the most UI add-ons, which actually seem to work.
by TechRadar (Aug, 2011)
Android Honeycomb remains a work-in-progress effort, and we found that doubly apparent in the 7in form factor of the Iconia A100.
by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)
Granted, the Acer Iconia Tab A100 currently has no competition in the 7" Android Honeycomb tablet market, but even if that weren't the case, we'd still recommend it.
by MobileTechReview (Aug, 2011)

Battery life

From a full charge you'll get just over four hours of video playback.
by TrustedReviews (Mar, 2012)
We don't expect the same battery life from a 7" dual core Tegra 2 tablet as we get from a 10" tablet since the 10" has room for a larger battery, but we'd like to see closer to 7 hours from the Acer.
by MobileTechReview (Aug, 2011)
The display quality is poor, battery life is half of what an iPad achieves and the design inspires indifference rather than desire.
