The Android Website Contains a Photo of a Tablet We’ve Never Seen Before

Is the tablet pictured above a yet-unannounced Nexus 8? The folks at Ars Technica seem to think so — and if you ask us, they’ve made a pretty good case for it.

The picture, taken from the Apps & Entertainment section of Android’s website, features a tablet we’ve never seen before. From Ars Technica:

…The image shows a tablet that looks to have a screen that’s about 8 inches. It’s running KitKat (you can tell from the status bar icons), and it has on-screen navigation buttons. Unlike the current Nexus tablet, the Nexus 7, the bezels look to be very compact.

While no mention has ever been made of a Nexus 8, Android has been known to hide unannounced devices in its commercials and promotional material. On the other hand, as several AT commenters pointed out, it could just be a Nexus 7 with a badly-Photoshopped screen. Still, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for any sign of a new Nexus device. What do you think?
